Under 2.5 goals in the first half
Auckland City have had their taste of another Club World Cup and will be taking back to Oceania some very bitter lessons. Sitting at the bottom, they are set to close their campaign with a Group C match against third-placed Boca Juniors. We have the prediction below.
Despite their experience at this stage, Auckland City bear some of the most unwanted records from the 2025 World Cup. Their 10-0 loss to Bayern Munich on matchday one was the heaviest defeat at the Club World Cup in history.
They then suffered a 6-0 defeat to Benfica, the second largest loss at this stage.
Boca Juniors still have hopes of advancing to the knockouts, but they have to break their six-game winless streak. The 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich on matchday two meant progression is no longer in the Argentine side’s hands.
Heading into Round 3, Boca Juniors will be praying for a Bayern win when they face Benfica. But even if that happens, Boca themselves need a massive win over Auckland City to beat Benfica’s goal difference.
At the moment, Boca have a -1 GD, but meeting the group’s whipping boys, that is a concern they can address. They will then hope Bayern offer a helping hand on the other end.
