World - FIFA Club World Cup
Prediction :
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
In the context of European teams facing off, Benfica coming up against Bayern Munich is such a big game. The two sides with a combined eight Champions League titles will face off at the Club World Cup in Charlotte this Tuesday. This will be a Round 3 match in Group C, with Bayern Munich topping the standings and Benfica second. We have the preview and a prediction below.
While Bayern Munich have already secured their slot in the last 16 stage, Benfica’s progress is largely dependent on the result here. The Portuguese giants are making a debut appearance at the Club World Cup and need at least a draw to advance.
Bayern Munich are showing up at the tournament for a third time. In their previous two, the Germans won the title. It is much harder now, as the competition has expanded, but with two wins, Bayern remain among the favorites.

In the opening two matches, Benfica’s Angel Di Maria netted three times. This should give him the confidence to finally register a goal against Bayern Munich.
In his illustrious career, Di Maria had the opportunity to face Bayern nine times. However, he has never scored against the German giants, and as he’s leaving Europe soon, this could be his last chance.
Meanwhile, former Bayern man Renato Sanches will also be looking to lift Benfica, who are sure to miss Florentino. The defensive midfielder is nursing a shoulder injury, while Andrea Belotti is serving the second of a two-match suspension.
Benfica are awaiting the outcome of an appeal against Belotti’s red card.
Bayern Munich have the luxury of resting players and rotating the squad, with their knockout phase ticket secure. However, they still need to avoid defeat to top the group. It means Vincent Kompany will still send out a strong team.
While it remains to be seen how strong that’ll be, Jamal Musiala is expected to miss out even though he trained on Sunday. The German international limped off the last game.
Michael Olise has been in terrific shape, and he will form an attack line that also has Harry Kane.
Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller were in the Bayern teams that won the two titles in 2023 and 2020.
The latest meeting between these teams was in last season’ UEFA Champions League, and that was won by Bayern Munich. While the result wasn’t a surprise, the scoreline was a shift from the normal high-scoring returns this fixture has been serving.
In the three matches before that, Bayern Munich had scored 14 goals. We could see a resumption of that, if the two teams’ performances at this competition are anything to go by. Our prediction for Benfica v Bayern Munich is for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
Draw
For Bayern Munich this will not be a pressure game, but they are still expected to dominate. On their part, Benfica must keep Bayern at bay if they are to guarantee passage to the knockouts.
The Portuguese giants will happily play out a draw. That would work well for both teams, and we are backing a draw as our second bet.
