Europe - Euro U21
Prediction :
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
England U21’s campaign at the European U21 Championship started on a high as they claimed a solid 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic in their opening game. On matchday two in Group B, the Young Lions will meet Slovenia U21. Heading to the match, England U21 are second behind Germany, and Slovenia start the round placed bottom, all based on their opening day results. Read on for our prediction.
Having finished unbeaten in the last edition en route to their third Euro U21 title, it's now been seven consecutive games since England last lost in this competition. However, their run of six straight clean sheets has since been broken. Slovenia U21 will be battling more than just an England side. They’ll also be fighting to stop the Young Lions from extending their dominance in this tournament.
For Slovenia, who lost 3-0 to Germany in the opening round, this game has the must-win feeling, as their closing one against the Czech Republic won’t be easier. While they come in as the underdogs, Slovenia haven't lost to England in three previous meetings.

Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento took the plaudits for a big performance against the Czech Republic in the opening game.
While he had some blame for the goal England conceded, the left-back’s performance was electric, and he capped it all with an assist.
Meanwhile, Harvey Elliot’s experience showed in this game with his overall performance, a goal, and general leadership on the pitch. A member of the 2023 title-winning team, the Liverpool man remains an asset for the team.
Slovenia could be forced to have a new central defensive pairing.
Slovenia will be sweating over the availability of defender Lovro Golic. The 19-year-old from AS Roma was forced off the match against Germany after 83 minutes.
While he had a torrid time against German attackers, even giving away a penalty, Golic got most of his duels right. Relja Obric of Atalanta may be called in to cover should Golic fail to make it back.
Ideally, facing this England side wouldn’t want any sort of gambling, so Zan Jevsenak will surely have a new central defensive partner.
Heading into the current tournament, the England manager called on his players to better their 2023 performance. While they started well by winning, they couldn't keep a clean sheet, having gone through 2023 without conceding.
Well, defensively they’ve been porous at times, failing to keep a clean sheet in four straight matches now. Slovenia will want to make full use of that, coming from a loss and needing a win to keep their campaign alive. They are unbeaten in earlier meetings with England and carry a good scoring run too. Our prediction for England v Slovenia is for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
England to win
Slovenia are unbeaten in their three matches against England. They will be looking to keep that up, as they come here desperately in need of three points after their opening defeat. From their performance in the first match, they don’t look like a team to beat England.
They could take advantage of one or two lapses from the English team, but overall, our second prediction would be a win for England.
