Magda Linette to win in straight sets
British wild card Mingge Xu takes on the sixth seed Magda Linette in round two of the Nottingham Open. The winner of this grass court match will face either second seed Clara Tauson or unseeded Anna Blinkova in the last eight. Here's our match prediction.
17-year-old Xu was born in Swansea, Wales and was ranked a career-high 350th in the most recent ranking list. This is her WTA Tour main draw debut and round one saw her defeat Katie Volynets in straight sets.
That's taken her to 318th in the live list. Xu is playing her third grass court tournament of the year. The quarter-finals were reached in the ITF event played in Birmingham, including a win over Alycia Parks. Then the Welsh teenager lost in round two in Ilkley.
Magda Linette is 29th in the live rankings so the Pole should be ok for a seeding at Wimbledon. Last week saw Linette lose in the first round of the Libema Open in a three-set thriller against Bernarda Pera.
So far this week, the 33-year-old has beaten Alexandra Eala in straight sets. Linette has won one grass court title but that was on the ITF circuit six years ago. Her best at Wimbledon is reaching the third round on three occasions.
